The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation runs BizConnect, a pilot program for entrepreneurs in San Antonio. We produced a two-minute video introducing it for the Foundation. Small business owners in the program say what the classes and the grant did for them, and one explains why they would recommend it.
Josie Benavidez, owner of The Mariachi Connection, joined thinking she was getting ready to retire, and instead the class put a spark in her. “I never missed a class,” she says. Essa Yousafzai, owner of Afghan Village Restaurant & Halal Market, says the group learned how to reach customers and market themselves. Heather Angel Chandler had never had an elevator pitch, 15 years in, until an instructor showed the class the nuts and bolts.
The grant helps supplement income while the class takes Heather away from the office, and Josie plans to put hers toward her website. Essa’s verdict: “I would definitely recommend the BizConnect program.” Shanique Streete, the Foundation’s executive director of programs, says working with our team on the pilot was “an absolute pleasure.” If your program serves entrepreneurs, a video where participants speak for it is the kind we make.
