Environmental
portrait photography

A welding student holds a torch as others work in the welding shop at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio.

We photograph people where they work, create and lead. Each environmental portrait uses the setting to tell the story behind the person, from food bank warehouses to greenhouses, kitchens and operating rooms.

Common questions

What is an environmental portrait?

It’s a portrait made where the person works, creates or leads, so the setting becomes part of the picture. Ours range from food bank warehouses to greenhouses, kitchens and operating rooms. For portraits on a plain backdrop, see our studio portraits.

How much does an environmental portrait cost?

A single portrait is $950: a half day on location with one subject, two or three setups and three fully retouched portraits. A portrait series is $4,500: a full day covering up to five subjects or locations with a consistent visual style, and 10 fully retouched portraits.

How soon do we get the portraits?

You choose your favorites in a private online gallery. Retouched portraits arrive within 5 business days of your selections, and rush delivery is 25% more.
