Cyber Careers video
Chloe Bruno, an IT field service technician at SAISD, sits for her interview in “Cyber Careers,” a greater:SATX video.
For Cybersecurity Awareness Month, greater:SATX Regional Economic Partnership turned to us for Cyber Careers, a three-minute video. Three people from two employers talk about the many kinds of careers in cybersecurity and AI. Their message: there is more than one way to get started.
Chloe Bruno, an IT field service technician at SAISD, says “cybersecurity is like art,” with many areas, from penetration testing to teaching people. She comes from a foster care background and once felt a career in tech was out of reach. An FBI Teen Academy program in her junior year of high school introduced her to digital forensics. Putting herself out there earned her “over 60,000 in scholarships,” she says, and her advice is to stay adaptable and curious.
John Marty Heaner Jr., vice president for IT and chief technology officer at Texas Biomedical Research Institute, calls AI and cybersecurity “hugely broad areas.” There are opportunities for all kinds of personality types, he says. Brian Kopecki, the institute’s IT director, says school can get you a little further ahead, but there are no boundaries on how to start. If your organization promotes careers in a field, a video like this lets the people doing the work speak for it.
