Workforce Development videos

City of San Antonio Workforce Development helps employers grow their own talent through registered apprenticeships. Under the City’s Apprenticeship Building America grant, the department needed videos to raise awareness and invite employers to start programs of their own. Over a multi-year series, we produced 10 videos: six apprenticeship profiles, three program videos and an event video, seven of them in 4K. They range from two-minute pieces to a seven-minute how-to on becoming a nationally registered program.

People in the series name what holds employers back: paperwork, time, an unclear return and the belief that apprenticeships fit only the trades. Apprentices and the employers behind them answer, on a JCB warehouse floor, in an SAISD classroom and in a Solid Waste truck cab. Darian Farias, a JCB maintenance apprentice, opens his video with one line: “It’s changed the whole trajectory of my life.” At Avanzar Interior Technologies, the CEO says the company has hired 15 team members through the TX Fast Track program.

Other videos cover the City’s CDL apprenticeship, which has put more than 100 people through, Lone Star Construction Trades Training and tech apprenticeships. National Apprenticeship Day, the one event video, was delivered the morning after. Sonya B, a former workforce development manager at the City, calls it “an outstanding job” told “in a meaningful, engaging way.” If your program trains apprentices, this is the kind of series we make.
