Scott Washington
When Scott Washington’s housing came up, he slept for about two days. It was quiet. It took some getting used to, he says, but after that he was “peaceful, peaceful, peaceful.” His fiancee, Mary Moreno, speaks in the video too. We filmed it for SAMMinistries’ annual gala, as part of its Journeys of Hope series.
At one point, he says, he had “nothing at all.” He’d had a good job until he got sick and lost it, and then he lost his place at a motel too. Mary was a little shocked, she says, and couldn’t believe what he’d gone through. “A lot of people out here don’t deserve to go through anything like that.”
His mom always wanted him out of the motel, he says, and he got out. Mary thanks SAMMinistries “for helping Scott and believing in him.” Scott says he feels more stable, and when he looks ahead, “the sky’s the limit.” His last words in the video: “I came a long way. I’m at home right now. I love it here.”
