Medical care is the focus of this one-minute fundraising spot for San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA). Its first line of on-screen text reads: “80% of the cats and dogs San Antonio Pets Alive! saves from euthanasia need some sort of medical attention.”

SAPA’s medical team, the spot says, treats a range of conditions, including heartworms, eye repairs and upper respiratory infections, and performs life-saving surgeries. Then: “Our Parvo Ward is what makes us different.” At the time, the spot called SAPA one of only two shelters in Texas that purposely took in sick puppies diagnosed with parvovirus.

“We save those everyone else gave up on,” it says, before its ask: “Be the hero they need.” SAPA’s former executive director, Rebecca Mayberry, says our work has resulted in grants and donations of more than $250,000 for the rescue.
