Apprenticeship Partner: Accenture Federal Services

Estrella Davila calls herself “a Latina in tech.” She says she “did not have a college education and never thought this was possible,” and NPower prepared her for a move to Accenture Federal Services, an NPower apprenticeship partner. We produced this video to encourage more companies to partner with NPower, the free tech training nonprofit. Quincy Harper and Denise Carlson also appear.

Estrella says the move from NPower to Accenture was smooth, because NPower prepared her both technically and professionally. NPower’s mock interviews help people joining the workforce for the first time or coming back to it. One speaker hadn’t interviewed in so long that they didn’t know what to expect, and found the practice questions “very spot on.”

Another speaker remembers sitting down with Estrella just before an all-female IT cohort launched, and what stood out was her hunger for knowledge. The message to other employers: NPower vets students up front and covers professional development. Its graduates are typically ready to work as soon as they finish, and employers spend less on recruiting.
