Liliath’s Spotlight
Becoming president and stage manager of the Academy Acting Company challenged Liliath Rodriguez to communicate more, and it taught her to be independent and to work well with others. Liliath’s Spotlight was made for Edgewood ISD during her senior year at Edgewood Fine Arts Academy.
The role also helped her talk with teachers and other students in class. She came from a really big district before Edgewood. Because of the student-to-teacher ratio, she could talk with her teachers more comfortably, without being afraid to share her ideas or ask for help. The academy and the district, she says, are “so welcoming to everybody who comes in.”
Her favorite part of theater is seeing everybody grow, then watching them “shine on stage while I’m backstage.” She loves seeing the technicians shine too, and hyping everybody up, backstage and on stage. At the time, she was glad she’d be spending her last year there.
She loves it there because it helped her find herself and who she is. As for why she chose Edgewood: “I can be me.”
