Drama!

To Jasmine Owens, everything about theater is “really magical and beautiful and a complete transformation of oneself.” Drama! was made for Edgewood ISD, the San Antonio school district that runs Edgewood Fine Arts Academy, where Jasmine was then a senior.

Every day, she says, she’s challenged to become a better person. Her teachers push her to get good grades and study hard, all to help with her big future plans. She really wants theater arts to be her career, and she chose Edgewood because it offers so many opportunities to help with future careers.

Being a Leader of the P.A.C. lets her encourage other students to be their true selves, including students with disabilities, so they can show their true talent to everyone around them.

The school, she says, “really changed my whole life.” Now, “I can actually be who I am without having to feel pressured by anyone else.” She wants other students to feel the same way, because she believes “there’s something special in everyone if they have the opportunity to show it.”
