The Troubadour
Alejandro Rodriguez used to play French horn. He moved to trumpet because there weren’t really any trumpet players, and he’s really happy he stuck with it. The Troubadour, a music profile made for Edgewood ISD, features Alejandro, then a senior at Memorial High School. He says he chose Edgewood for the community.
On trumpet, he can play mariachi, jazz, concert and marching band. He calls it a very versatile instrument with “a really explosive sound.” He loves band for the places they get to go, the people he’s around and the whole environment.
In his sophomore year, missing the Salsa Bowl pushed him to do better, so he could go to every event. To him, being a Leader of the P.A.C. means “being able to get what you need done and being able to do more.”
Because it’s a small school and district, he says, you can have a better one-on-one with your teachers. Without band, “I would’ve just been indoors playing games with my friends.” Because of it, he gets to go outside and meet new people.
