Show what’s possible through the people who’ve done it

Starting a new career or learning a new skill can feel like a big leap. Hearing from someone who’s been through it can make all the difference.

We create recruitment and workforce videos for training programs, apprenticeship initiatives and workforce organizations. By featuring graduates, apprentices and employers sharing their own experiences, we help prospective participants see what these opportunities could mean for their future.

We’ve produced 48 recruitment and workforce videos for organizations including NPower, the City of San Antonio Workforce Development, and greater:SATX. Explore

Graduates who once doubted themselves make the case

NPower gives young adults and veterans free tech training and career launch support. It asked us to help grow enrollment and win more employer and apprenticeship partners.

Free should be an easy sell. But graduates kept coming back to confidence. So each alumni story follows one graduate, who does nearly all the talking. A viewer who wonders if tech is for them hears the answer from an alum.

NPower first hired us on a referral. The series grew to 18 videos: 13 alumni stories, 3 partner videos, a program video and a graduation video. Read the NPower case study.

As a nonprofit focused on creating opportunities through technology training and career development, having a media partner who understands our mission and knows how to showcase it authentically is extremely valuable.

Employers hear it from other employers

City of San Antonio Workforce Development helps employers grow their own talent through registered apprenticeships. Under the city’s Apprenticeship Building America grant, it needed videos to raise awareness and invite employers to start programs of their own.

The people in the series name what holds employers back. The paperwork. The time. An unclear return. The belief that apprenticeships fit only the trades. A list of benefits would not answer that, but people who had done it could. So we put apprentices next to the employers and trainers behind them.

We shot on a JCB warehouse floor, in a San Antonio ISD classroom and in the cab of a city solid waste truck. The series grew to 10 videos: 6 apprenticeship stories, 3 program videos and an event video, from two-minute stories to a seven-minute how-to. Read the City of San Antonio Workforce Development case study.

NPower’s partner videos work the same way. Employers from Accenture Federal Services to Harris County speak to their peers on camera.

The City of San Antonio is a repeat client. We’ve produced 14 videos for three of its departments.

Most importantly, they did an outstanding job capturing and telling the story of Apprenticeship and its impact on the City of San Antonio workforce in a meaningful, engaging way.

Show people the way in

Some workforce videos start earlier, before anyone applies. They help people see a career they had not pictured yet.

For greater:SATX, we produced Cyber Careers for Cybersecurity Awareness Month. John Marty Heaner Jr., VP for IT & CTO at Texas Biomed, and Chloe Bruno, an IT Field Service Technician at SAISD, share how they found their way into cybersecurity and AI careers in San Antonio.

For DISCO Learning Media, a partner in the Smart Energy Education initiative, we filmed SEE Your Future Career Day. At the free STEM event hosted by KLRN, students and families explored careers and joined hands-on demos.

pixelreflex MEDIA’s ability to weave essential information with captivating storytelling elevates educational content, and transforms it into immersive narratives that resonate deeply with audiences of all ages.

Our team could not be happier with the quality of their work and their partnership as a whole. Wonderful team that is very talented that goes above and beyond to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.

One shoot, many versions

A recruitment video has to reach people where they already are. Often that is a phone, mid-scroll.

Many clients add a team headshot day to the same visit, so the people in the video also get portraits for the careers page.

The NPower series runs from 14-second spots to three-minute stories. Several alumni stories are told in 30 seconds. We plan every version before the shoot, from the full story for your website down to a vertical cut for social.

Need to reach job seekers in Spanish? We produce videos in Spanish as well as English, and we deliver Spanish subtitles. Part of our SAISD Paraprofessional Apprenticeship video for City of San Antonio Workforce Development is in Spanish.

We meet them before the camera does

Graduates and apprentices know their own stories better than anyone. Telling them to a camera can feel unfamiliar. So we meet each person first.

Steffi Ockenfels, our executive producer, talks with every graduate, apprentice and employer we plan to interview. By video call, by phone or face to face, whatever is easiest for them. We aim for at least a week ahead of the shoot.

On shoot day, nobody is meeting a stranger. Our interviews are unscripted, and each person tells their own story.

How we prepare and look after the people on camera: consent and safety.

A special thank you to Steffi, whose warmth and positive energy made a lasting impression. She has a unique way of making people feel comfortable and confident, especially in situations that can feel unfamiliar or intimidating.

Examples of our workforce videos

Common questions

How much time do you need from each person?

Plan on 45 minutes per interview. Most take about 30, so there’s room for a short break.

How many people should be in one video?

Plan on about one minute of screen time per person. For a 2 to 3 minute video, we recommend no more than three people.

Do graduates and apprentices need a script?

No. Our interviews are unscripted, and there’s nothing to memorize. Our guide for the people on camera, Before your interview, explains what to expect.

Do the people on camera sign a release?

Yes. Each person signs a release before we film, often your organization’s own form, and it governs how the video is used.

What if someone needs an interpreter or other help on the day?

Tell Steffi what would help, such as a chair with arms, extra breaks, help reading forms, or an interpreter for ASL or another language, and we’ll plan for it together.

What does a recruitment video cost?

A Spotlight starts at $6,000 for one 1 to 2 minute video from a half-day shoot. A Signature Story starts at $15,000 for a 3-minute video plus one or two shorter ones, and a Story Campaign at $30,000 for a 3 to 5 minute video plus three or four. Both larger packages are built for recruitment campaigns. Every project is custom-scoped on the discovery call.

Can we get short versions for social media and ads?

Yes. The NPower series runs from 14-second spots to three-minute stories, and several alumni stories are told in 30 seconds. A Signature Story includes one or two shorter videos and a Story Campaign three or four. We plan every version before the shoot, from the full story for your website down to a vertical cut for social.

Can you film on a job site or factory floor?

Yes. For City of San Antonio Workforce Development, we shot on a JCB warehouse floor, in a San Antonio ISD classroom and in the cab of a city solid waste truck. For the TX Fast Track Program video, Steffi interviewed graduates on the factory floor at Avanzar Interior Technologies. We preview each location before the shoot.

Can you make a program or how-to video, not just stories?

Yes. The City of San Antonio series has six apprenticeship stories, three program videos and an event video. Its seven-minute how-to walks employers through the four phases of becoming a registered apprenticeship program. For NPower, the 18 videos include a program video and a graduation video.

How soon will we have the videos?

A Spotlight is delivered about a week after the shoot, a Signature Story in about two weeks and a Story Campaign in about three. Event coverage can turn around the same day or in 24 hours, with a 20% rush fee for same day and 10% for next day. Have a deadline? Tell us on the first call, and we plan back from it.
